“When Jesus spoke to the people, he said, I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life” John 8:12
Ok, we all know that the majority of us need to shed a few pounds. We know it, but it’s inconvenient. I mean who wants to do a diet, count the calories, and who wants to take the time to actually exercise? We all just want to “enjoy life”. With all that said I reflect upon my life. At one time or another I have made similar statements as noted above with good intentions; unfortunately I have never really acted upon them. This year, I committed to Thrive and bring change to my life, so the pounds are coming off and I am monitoring what I eat. I can say that I am truly feeling better and enjoying life. I have only spoken about one part of life and that is the physical part. The other integral part to enjoying life is the spiritual part. Unfortunately, the spiritual man is neglected a great deal. We have all made the excuses, “I don’t have time to pray, read the word, or go to church.” I have heard also “I have trouble understanding the bible”, I want to be more spiritual but….”, or we justify our spiritual health with “I go to church” or “I teach a class.” Being spiritually healthy is vital to living LIFE, spiritual maturity should be the desire of all who follow Jesus. Unfortunately all our excuses leave us spiritually immature and as the kids call it, spiritually flabby. This year I have committed to the Lord, for my self and my family, to thrive and be spiritually and physically fit. I have challenged some of our core leaders and I would like to challenge you all as well. In the times we live in God wants us to be the light of life to those who are empty within. We no longer need to walk in the darkness, but by receiving the light of the world and living a life of physical and spiritual discipline, we can have the light of life and enjoy this Life that God has given us. Pursue God with passion and Thrive.
