"The stars may fall, but God's promises will stand and be fulfilled." J.I. Packer
Have you ever been promised something and later find out that you were let down and the promised item never came through. How many of us can reminisce of childhood experiences where a care giver said if you clean your room, get good grades, treat your siblings nice I will get you a _______. Later to find out we complied and were let down. These experiences can really be a letdown and can even embitter some. I took a moment this week to be still and observe my natural surroundings. As I did, I noticed the birds flying and the beauty of the plants and flowers around me. I also noticed the majesty of the Appalachian Mountains around my community. I was reminded of a promise that has been proven in my life and the lives of countless others that I have had the privilege of meeting over the years. "Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?" (Matthew 6:26) There are times when we may get confused between needs and wants but there is peace in knowing that God keeps his promises.
