““Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.” -Jeremiah 33:3 (NIV) As a child I remember waking up in the middle of the night after having a nightmare. I would lay in bed, look around the room in fear, and then call out for my parents, within a few minutes I would hear a reply. Throughout the years, my kids have also cried out in the night. My one son quietly calls out, “Dad”, “Daddy” and by his third call he hears the response, “yes son what’s wrong. Similar to my parents, although I’m resting I am still attentive to my child’s call and I am quick to respond. In our text today, the prophet Jeremiah speaks a word that he received from the Lord. The word is a word of comfort to his people. It is a promise that when they call to him he will answer, and he will reveal great and marvelous things to them. They were comforted knowing that they could expect to receive comfort from God. We can also take hold of this promise today that God will hears us when we call to him. He is always attentive and not resting for his love and passion for us runs deep. Father God, I take hold of the promise that when I call to you, you will hear my heart and my prayers and you will reveal your will and direction for my life today. In Jesus name. Amen. -DR
