"Teach Me"

It is amazing to spend time with people who are passionate about what they do. When people find their purpose and giftedness, it pours out of them with a joy and fervor. I am amazed as I watch these gifted people pour out revelation to others and find joy when it is received and learned. My wife is such a person; she amazes me as she functions in her giftedness. Her passion is teaching Math. Yes, I said Math! For some, just the word makes you cringe; for others they love it and make a living by it. The Lord spoke to me one day when someone came and asked my wife for help. They were solving equations and my wife patiently walked them through the process until the individual felt comfortable with the work.

Jesus was known as one of the greatest teachers that ever lived. To those who believe He is the Son of God, and even for those who don’t, he is still considered to be a great teacher. He modeled a lifestyle of learning and teaching; he learned from the Father and was knowledgeable about society and culture. He taught in such an authoritative and yet practical way, that whether it was a child, disabled person, priest or government official listening people pursued him and learned from him. He taught them to see God in the midst of their circumstances and life. His message was received by some and rejected by others.

The question for us today is simply this, are we pursuing God and open to teaching? Secondly, are we willing to impart that teaching to others? Do we model a lifestyle of learning and teaching, and can people find God in the midst of our teaching? Can they see the power of God in the midst of their life’s circumstance? There are many people out there with numerous questions – are we ready to teach them? The time is now to be ready at all times and seasons! We can no longer take life for granted; we must live it to the fullest.

“A certain ruler asked him, “Good teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?” “Why do you call me good?” Jesus answered. “No one is good–except God alone. You know the commandments: ‘Do not commit adultery, do not murder, do not steal, do not give false testimony, honor your father and mother.'”All these I have kept since I was a boy,” he said. When Jesus heard this, he said to him, “You still lack one thing. Sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.” When he heard this, he became very sad, because he was a man of great wealth.” (Luke 18:13-23)
