A number of weeks ago I watched a TV show entitled “A Football Life”. That weeks episode was on the Manning Family. It was truly a beautiful story that shared the life of Archie, Peyton, and Eli manning. One of my favorite lines was when Peyton was reflecting upon one a moment when he and his brother played football together in high school. Peyton was the quarterback and his brother was the receiver. They lived for that moment and now they can look back on it with fondness.
We are told at times that if we focus so much on the now that we will neglect the future and the dream of what could be. I have come to the conclusion that we must be balanced in our approach to life. We should celebrate the good times and even the not so good times that teach us so much. Enjoy them and cherish them. We must also look forward to what is to come with enthusiasm and not fear.
In Jeremiah 29:11, God told Jeremiah the prophet “I know the plans I have for you and they are plans to prosper and not harm you. Plans to give you a hope and future.”
Make the effort not to dwell on the negative of the past. Cherish the good times of the present and with your mind set on God have hope and dream and pursue your future dreams and plans. Only God truly knows what tomorrow will bring.
