Jesus meets the physical need of a man who had lived his whole life in darkness; Jesus rubs dirt and saliva over the man’s eyes. He tells the man to go wash his face, the man washed his face and sight is restored the darkness has been replaced by light. The religious, neighbors, and family could not believe what had happened. Doubt, skepticism, and other opinions are given to try to understand what had happened to this man. The man is rejected by the religious leaders and others but he really didn’t care because he was blind but now he could see. After he had been cast out of the church, a man named Jesus who he had met once before went looking for him. Jesus found him and he was not only physically healed but spiritually healed. Meet a need, resist doubt and disbelief, have faith and believe for the impossible, lead people to the Light of the World. When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” (John 8:12) “Faith is the strength by which a shattered world shall emerge into the light.” (Helen Keller) I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. (John 14:12)
