For the Birds

A few weeks ago I was caring for my parent’s home while they were on vacation, my responsibilities were to water the plants, bring in the mail and feed the birds. These seemed like some pretty simple tasks and they really were. I always joke with my parents stating to them that they have their own wild life preserve. They religiously and faithfully feed their animals and critters every morning and evening. This routine has been now established for years, and everyday they have rabbits, squirrels, moles, cats, and a number of species of birds visit their home. As I stopped by to feed the critters one morning I looked out at the yard to find not a bird around, as I turned around to get the seed for the feeders I walked out to an empty yard, filled the feeder and returned to the closet to return the bucket. After returning the bucket I turned around to find over 50 birds on the grounds, rabbits, and squirrels out on the yard, all with in a few seconds.

This reminded me of Gods provision and faithfulness, as we are encouraged not to worry about the present or the future but we are encouraged to place our faith and trust in God. The scriptures remind us that he is faithful and that he never rests from keeping track of His children. As you go through your days today, spend time in thought and prayer and thank God for His faithfulness and provision. Be Blessed in Christ.

Matthew 6:26

“Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?”
