The bible is riddled with so many examples of faith, people who overcame disillusionment, confusion, fear, anxiousness, uncertainty, overwhelming odds because they trusted in God. They believed and trusted in God and were brought through. When we read these stories we can find hope and encouragement many times. We can read about the outcome and say if God did it then He can do it again. There are times though when you need to go beyond the story when you are caught in the midst of the storm and nothing seems to help. The only thing you know for sure is that God is for you and you must trust Him. As we trust Him, we start noticing little things that confirm His actions in our lives and situations. Maybe it’s the devotional you pick up, the scripture that just happened to come into your mind, or the person who sent an email, called, or just smiled at you and encouraged your faith. You all of a sudden feel the encouragement that you need to take another step and then another. Thank the Lord, for His involvement in our lives. In times like this I begin to understand what David meant when he wrote “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding; think about Him in all your ways, and He will guide you on the right paths.” (Proverbs 3:5-6) To trust God, to rely on Him, to find peace in Him, to truly have a relationship with Him; I guess that what it really means to have “Faith”. We make it out to be so many different things, adding contingencies and other requirements. Can it be as simple as knowing God and experiencing life everyday acknowledging Him.
Father God, help me to never forget that in the midst of life’s struggles, disappointments, and failures that you are always with me. Help me to Trust You, strengthen my faith and may I get to know you more each day.
