It has been a great summer, it has flown by with family vacation, kids camp, Ranger PowWow and a multitude of other items. It seems as if the summer just started and here it is the kids are back in school. One observation in my parenting life that I noticed this summer is the amount of times I would challenge my kids with a directive that I didn’t do myself. I know there are those reading this blog that are thinking that is hypocritical. If we are really honest with ourselves and the Lord we realize that there and many times through our the days when we challenge our kids to do things that at times we don’t follow through with faithfully ourselves. A good example is reading the Word, we challenge our kids with the importance of doing it, but they rarely see us do it outside of church. Another example would be cleaning up after themselves, if we as parent expect our kids to do it we need to do it. I close with this In the book of James we read of how we need to be “not only hearers of the Word but doers of it”. This applies to what we ask our kids to do in the home. If we don’t model it don’t expect them to do it. The funny thing is that the more I do with my kids the more they learn. Then we I ask them to do something they do it with less complaining.
“Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness and all things will be added unto you.”
