“Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks.” -John 4:23 (NIV) “Let’s get down to business” I heard as I sat in a leader’s meeting. “What are we about and where are we going” was then uttered. King Hezekiah, when seeing the state of the kingdom took the same approach. The nation of Israel had lost their way and was plagued with false religions, sin, and callousness toward God. Hezekiah went to the religious leaders and challenged them to get back to the basics; he had them get back to business. Once they consecrated and refreshed themselves they intervened for the nation. When Hezekiah gave the charge to the religious leaders to cleanse themselves it took ceremonial activity and personal reflection. As new covenant followers of Christ we may not need to do the sacrifices of old, to cleanse ourselves and make things right nor do we have to wait for a ruler to tell us. The Father seeks us out, his desire is that we worship him and we put him first in our lives. Father God may my life be a life that honors you through praise and worship throughout this day. Allow me the opportunity to share your praises not only privately, but to those I meet today. In Jesus name. Amen.
