“She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.” (Matthew 1:21 NIV)
Over the past few weeks I have been reflecting upon our culture, and society. I have noticed the fascination we have with death, violence, the end of the world, backbiting, zombies, and the list can go on and on. You can find these themes in the movies, music, and the 200 plus channels many of us get on the television. Society would tell us that it’s the norm, and the current trend. I am concerned with how it is influencing the hearts and minds of people. All these things lead us down dark paths that can very easily consume us spiritually, physically, and emotionally.
This Christmas season will quickly come and quickly go. The gifts have been bought, the kid’s vacation is coming and the bank account is at its limit. Wherever you may find yourself during this season. There was a time in history when the society and the culture were consumed with darkness and people were hardhearted and hurting. In the darkness a light broke through, prophecy was fulfilled, people came to see, that Gods plan and Promise entered the world, Jesus the Hope of the World.
Over the next few days take time, read the Christmas story, read about the life of Jesus, read about Gods plan of redemption. Filter your mind and heart and that of your children. Encounter Gods love and have hope, God is involved and doing good things in the world today.
